EFIE: Electronic Fuel Injection Enhancer, Description

First of all, “EFIE” is simply the shortened form of “Electronic Fuel Injection Enhancer.” The EFIE was developed for use on gasoline fuel injected engines. The reason for the development of the Electronic Fuel Injection Enhancer came about because when certain fuel efficiency devices such as HHO Hydrogen Generators were added to fuel injection vehicles, these devices altered the electronic signal being sent to the cars OBDI or OBDII, (On Board Diagnostic Computer) via the Oxygen Sensors.

 

The OBD would receive a signal from the 02 Sensor telling it that the vehicle was running too lean. The computer would then dump more gasoline into the engine, this would cause the engine to run poorly, and any gas savings you would have aquired from the added fuel saving device would be lost.

Over the years many have wrongly thought that simply installing an EFIE alone, without installing other fuel saving devises, would increase their fuel savings. This simply is not true. Oh, you may see a small amount of increase in efficiency, but it will not be much. The EFIE was produced to be installed with a fuel saving device such as an HHO Generator, it was not produced to be installed without a fuel saving device.  

The reason is that you are fooling the car's computer and making it run out of spec, or differently than it was designed for. The EFIE was designed to make the car run according to spec after another fuel efficiency device has been installed.

In short, fuel efficiency devices make the OBD think something is wrong with the exhaust, and the EFIE corrects this by sending the proper voltage to the oxygen sensor. Once this signal to the oxygen sensor has been restored by the EFIE, the OBD is unaware of any additions of fuel saving devices being added.
